Freedom
Am I allowed to feel this happy
Am I allowed to feel so free
Am I allowed to have no worries
And focus just on me?
No more picking up things
And putting them away
I know if I put something down
Then that’s where it will stay.
I can now find the remote control
And the toothpaste lid’s left on
No toothpaste dots the mirror
And no smellies in the john.
I can get up when I want to
And go to bed whenever I please
No washing other people’s clothes
My day is mine to seize.
No more being told I’m nagging
When I ask for a hand
And I can no longer be blamed for things
Ah, life will be so grand!
I know I’m far from perfect
That’s not a claim I make
But I try my best in all I do
My heart did not deserve to break.
So rising from the darkness
Out of what is left behind
Am I allowed to feel this way
At peace within my mind?
