Day 4 saw us ttravelling by bus from Monya to Bagan.

We rose early and took some photos of the motel complex where we stayed and were fortunate enough to see a hotel employee taking food to offer to Buddha, which the crows ate with relish.

On the bus we noticed some Buddhist nuns and novice nuns setting out on their morning gathering of offerings. So pretty in the early morning sun.

We travelled on to the Thanbudae Village School and met with the children there. We were to meet some of the orphans but they had been taken to a monastery and would return after lunch, so after a brief stay photographing the children, we went on to visit the Thanbudae Pagoda.

The Thanbudae Pagoda was spectacular - so many many Buddhas and so opulent. Every surface inside was detailed with artwork and shelves upon shelves of Buddhas.

We then travelled back to the Thanbudae Village School to meet again with the children and the orphans - novice nuns. While we waited for them to arrive, the school children were all dressed up and ready to perform a little show for us. Such enthusiasm and concentration. These kids were enchanting and they stole our hearts.

After we left we travelled on to Bagan. I took a few photos through the bus window as we travelled, a couple of a 3 km bridge we went over. We stopped off on the way to the hotel to purchase our tickets for our balloon ride over Bagan the next morning. On to the hotel and as there was a little bit of light left we went out to photograph the pagodas and stupas over the road from the hotel.
