She's Shy
She's shy
She stands back from the crowd
Waiting for someone to show a sign
A sign that she is welcome
She will not go anywhere where she is not wanted
Or welcome
Afraid to come forward
Afraid to join in
Till she sees a sign
She's afraid
Others say she appears confident
Self assured, but she's not
She has no confidence to come forward
To join in
Afraid she's not wanted
Afraid she's not liked
Till she sees that sign
She's misread
Often considered that she is a snob
Others jump to conclusions
Accuse her of thinking she is better than others
But she doesn't
She stands back from the crowd
Wanting to join in
But still waiting for that sign
She cries
She screams out within
Nobody sees she is crying inside
Finally behind closed doors where she can at last
Give in to her tears
She hides her frailty
Waiting patiently
Waiting for the sign
She waits
She would never hurt anyone
Like she has been hurt in the past
Scars have cut deeply into her esteem and courage
So she is afraid
Afraid of being hurt again
Afraid of not being welcome
Waiting for that sign
